security measures

I found these things during an evening stroll. They were a pain to carry home- literally.

They’re designed to keep burglars out & to make ours a nicer society.

After I got fed up with them lying around creepily in my living room, and after I had stumbled over this vicious pile a couple of times, I decided to weld them together. At least as a sculpture they’re harmless.

internet discussions/ mixing up words

The problem with internet discussions; they always end up looking like this.

A blur of letters, words, opinions.

videogames
May 13, 2012

“De technologie van de videogame-industrie inspireert sinds tien jaar de ontwerpen van het leger”, weet hij. De toekomstige generatie commandanten groeit op met dit soort games. “Het geeft vorm aan hun verwachtingen, techniek waarvan ze denken die in het echt nodig te hebben. Ze leven in een wereld waarin van alles te controleren is. Die verwachtingen nemen ze mee naar school, hun werkplek en het leger.”

mother’s day
May 13, 2012

Mother’s Day began in America in 1870 when Julia Ward Howe wrote the Mother’s Day Proclamation. Written in response to the American Civil War and the Franco-Prussian War, her proclamation called on women to use their position as mothers to influence society in fighting for an end to all wars:

DNA-Destroying Chip Being Embedded Into Mobile Phones
May 9, 2012

According to Dr. Boian Alexandrov at the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, terahertz (THz) waves destroy human DNA. The waves literally unzip the helix strand. Now a team of technologists at UT Dallas are planning to take chips broadcasting THz waves and embed them into mobile phones for use as an imaging system for consumers, law enforcement and medical personnel… a potentially deadly technology that could eventually kill or sicken millions of people:

nee, wij gaan de crisis niet betalen
May 9, 2012

>‘The funniest graph I’ve ever seen about why the euro zone is totally doomed’ kopt The Atlantic met gevoel voor wrange humor.

the multiverse
May 8, 2012

The idea that our Universe could be a small component within a vast assemblage of other universes that together make up a “multiverse” has been treated by physicists as intriguing, but so far it has remained in the realm of theory without any experimental tests that could support it.
That might change now when a team of scientists has found evidence that other universes, as well as our own actually lie within “bubbles” of space and time:

a little book of coincidence
May 8, 2012

A Little Book of Coincidence by John Martineau deals with some pretty amazing geometric relationships in our solar system, that seem to highly suggest these aren’t coincidential at all:

Science is killing us
May 7, 2012

(NaturalNews.com)Science is killing us. As a race, we are committing suicide by allowing science to dominate our medicine, agriculture and military industries. To the degree that we allow scientists to unleash their dangerous experiments onto the world without legitimate testing — and no, flu shot vaccines are never scientifically tested for long-term safety — we only accelerate the digging of our own graves. If we don’t learn to restrain the blind ambitions of arrogant scientists who are all too easily enticed by the chance to roll the dice in their “let’s play God” games, the blind pursuit of science without wisdom will only lead to our total destruction.
